This might sound terribly old school, but a writer needs to have a notebook at the ready. You never know when Inspiration Strikes.
I can’t live without my computer and I love the tapping sound it makes when I find my writing groove. But invariably, an idea will strike when I’m not in my office. I typically need my notebook while waiting in the post office line. There must be something about the wide assortment of people gathered that fuels my imagination.
Sure, I can grab my smartphone and send myself a quick note, but I’m talking the kind of inspiration that is brilliant…and long-winded…and needs room to grow. Your phone just doesn’t cut it.
There’s something as raw as reaching for a pad of paper and you can find so many gorgeous notepads these days. I’m sure the writing muses put them on the market so we could all find the one that inspires us most.
